Battens should be laid in a framed layout with staggered joints and spaced at a maximum of 350mm centres. Ensure battens are spaced evenly and are stable ready for the decking installation.

Fix starter clips to the battens before laying the first row of boards, ensuring a minimum of 15mm gap is left against any abutment to allow sufficient expansion.

Lay boards in rows and fix using Nivoclips, inserted into the groove and screwed using stainless steel screws. One clip is required for every supporting batten on every board row.

All header joints should be fully supported on a double batten and each board end is fixed with it’s own Nivoclip where they meet. Ensure a minimum 3mm gap is left on the ends of every decking joint when laying.

It is recommended that a perimeter frame is installed and fixed to all open edged decking areas to ensure that it is tied into the batten structure.
