The 48mm Acoustibeam is the stiffer section in the same 1.8 metre length. Under Silent Ply it lets the cradles along each batten open out to 600mm centres, against 450mm for the 36mm, so a floor needs fewer of them.

What it does
New Era’s acoustic cradle and batten floor is tested at AIRO laboratories for Part E, as an FFT2 resilient cradle and batten system under the Robust Detail Handbook.
Laminated from poplar plywood rather than sawn from solid, so there are no knots or shakes to work around and the batten will not twist or warp in service. The lamination is what makes a thin section usable as a sprung floor batten.
